Home Gospel Music News Los Angeles Choir Collective FM2 & Intentional Bring the Traditional Choir Sound...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Los Angeles, CA – May 8, 2026) – The rising gospel powerhouse continues to build national momentum with chart-topping music, major collaborations, and an upcoming summer release

FM2 & Intentional are proving that the traditional choir sound is not only alive — it’s thriving. Hailing from Los Angeles, California and led by founder Freddie Moore II, also known as FM2, the dynamic ensemble has become one of gospel music’s most exciting independent choir movements, blending the rich energy of classic Sunday morning worship with a fresh contemporary edge.

Inspired by legendary choir trailblazers such as Hezekiah Walker, Ricky Dillard, and J.J. Hairston, FM2 & Intentional have carved out a sound that feels both nostalgic and innovative — a hearty, choir-driven style more commonly associated with Midwest and East Coast gospel traditions, now emerging powerfully from the West Coast.

The choir first captured national attention with the release of their debut album, “Darnell Davis Presents: FM2 & Intentional Live from The Choir Stand,” released in 2018 through IndieBlu Music, a subsidiary of eOne Nashville. The project debuted at No. 8 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart before returning to the charts later that year at No. 10 — a major accomplishment for an independent choir collective.

Since then, FM2 & Intentional have continued to establish themselves as a sought-after vocal force within the gospel industry, lending background vocals to celebrated artists including Donnie McClurkin, Fred Hammond, James Fortune, and Charles Jenkins. They have also shared stages with gospel favorites such as Erica Campbell, Marvin Sapp, Le’Andria Johnson, and The Walls Group.

In 2022, the group expanded its musical reach with the release of “We Made It (Remix)” featuring Latoiya Williams and production contributions from acclaimed West Coast producer DJ Battle Cat. Their latest single, “There’s None Like Him,” further showcased the choir’s signature sound and unwavering commitment to authentic worship music.

The collective reached another milestone last year with the release of their sophomore project, “Live from the Choir Stand Episode II.” In a rare and ambitious move, the group simultaneously recorded their third live album the very same evening in front of a packed audience, featuring appearances from gospel music standouts including Crystal Aikin, Christina Bell, Bishop Cortez Vaughn, and J.J. Hairston.

Now entering a new season, FM2 & Intentional have officially partnered with Root Consulting, signaling an exciting expansion for the choir as they prepare to release new music this summer and broaden their national visibility. The new single “I Survived” features Tyscot recording artist Ruth La’Ontra on lead.

“FM2 & Intentional represent the heart of choir music,” said management representatives. “At a time when many believed the traditional choir sound was fading, they have remained intentional about preserving its power, excellence, and impact while introducing it to a new generation.”

With a growing fanbase, undeniable musicality, and an unwavering commitment to ministry, FM2 & Intentional are positioning themselves as one of gospel music’s premier choir collectives to watch in 2026. Their upcoming project is produced by Bennett Paysinger, Darnell Davis and the legendary Mike Bereal.
