New York, NY (January 31, 2023)– It has been a little over two years since a minor procedure almost ended the life of emerging artist Maurice Smith. The “Mighty To Me” singer was told that the doctors almost lost him on the operating table, from which Smith responded, “I wasn’t yours to lose.” Since then, all of his single releases have been that of prophetic proclamation, with songs like “I Still Believe” and “Mighty To Me,” serving as a precursor to his latest offering “You Are the King.”
“You Are the King,” written by Smith and produced by New Jersey’s Forrest Walker, is a gospel ballad reminiscent of a Christmas classic with a universal message of Jesus being the light of the world in any situation. With an appropriate oratory offering from none other than Dr. Kevin Bond (Brooklyn, NY), Smith’s soul-stirring falsetto is what makes the song infectious.
Speaking of soul-stirring vocals, over the past few months, the name Maurice Smith has been ringing in the music industry, as the likes of Grammy® winning singer/songwriter/producer, PJ Morton, chose Smith to sing the reprise of his hit song “Better Benediction,” during his Watch The Sun tour stop in New Jersey. Smith also flexed his vocal prowess in the company of inspirational artist MAJOR and Grammy® winning and multi-platinum “Vocal Bible,” Brandy, to which both artist acknowledged his musical gift.
History repeated itself earlier this week when multi-platinum singer and actor, Tank, passed Maurice the mic during one of his performances as well, proving that Smith a vocal force to reckoned with.
“You Are the King” is available now on all digital music outlets.
