ROBERT HASAN JAMES- When asked to sum up who he is, Robert Hasan James, without hesitation, replies “I am a work in progress destined for greatness”! Born in the Bronx, NY in 1975, Hasan as he is affectionately known, was raised in the church. He always had a deep passion for music, which would later help shape the man he would become. As a teenager, Hasan and his mother, Chery Moore, created Guess Who Productions, and threw the hottest parties and concerts in the tri-state area. Guess Who Productions launched the careers of comedian Tracy Morgan, Kid Capri, Ron G, Funk Master Flex and DJ Red Handed, to name a few. While in college, Hasan made it his business to join a church and joined the choir to ensure his spiritual connection remained intact. He always knew that GOD had a higher calling on his life but he was just waiting for it to be manifested.

In the summer of 1995, Hasan joined Hezekiah Walker & The Love Fellowship Crusade Choir and this decision would be one of the most important milestones in his life. The choir has won two Grammy awards and most recently Hasan joined them in singing background for Mariah Carey on “Fly like a bird”, at the 2006 Grammy Awards. He provided background vocals on albums for Diddy, Sting, Luther Vandross, KRS-One, Whitney Houston, Justin Timberlake and Lyfe Jennings, to name a few. He has also appeared on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Good Day New York, BeBe Winans Christmas Special and Showtime at the Apollo. In 1996, He’s Real Entertainment was formed as Hasan and his mother switched from secular promotion to gospel promotion and this venture premiered concerts with Timothy Wright, James Hall & Worship and Praise and Mary Mary’s first ever New York performance.

Hasan formerly worked at UniWorld Group Advertising Agency in NYC in the Production/Talent Department. While working in the advertising industry, it hit Hasan that there is no magazine out there that really speaks to people like him: Smart, Edgy, Saved and Sanctified- church goers. And it was about time to start one. This ah-ha moment was the beginning of Root Magazine. The mission of Root Magazine is to bring gospel music and the culture to the masses. There are no limits to where Root Magazine will take the gospel world. There are few people out there who can be described as a visionary and Robert Hasan James is definitely one of them. And with a good heart and pure intentions behind Root Magazine, this is one venture that will truly be blessed. Robert Hasan James is a member of Love Fellowship Tabernacle- The Kingdom Church, where Bishop Hezekiah Walker is his mentor & pastor. He is married to Kimberly James and has 1 daughter, Kennedy. They reside in Bensalem, PA.
