James Fortune and FIYA have declared victory in their new album “Identity.” From the group’s sophomore album, “The Transformation”, we have journeyed with Fortune through his struggles and fervent prayers. Now through his spiritual journey, we rejoice with him! You can feel the passion poured into each lyric as if the song is ministering directly to you.

James Fortune and FIYA, shine bright on “Hold On” featuring Monica and Fred Hammond. The chemistry of both artists in collaboration with FIYA, brought life to the song. The soft sounds and vocals are mesmerizing and put you in a zone of praise. This song is reassuring and encouraging and will bless your soul.

“Throw My Hands Up” is an upbeat song that that will have you dancing, but the words speak volumes. This song brings so much attitude and inspiration, similar to the sound of a hip-hop track but with a greater message; I had my hand up in the air dancing through the entire song. The biggest highlight on the project however, came on the song, “It Could Be Worse” featuring Le’Andria Johnson and Zacardi Cortez. I loved this song simply because it has a traditional gospel sound and it ministered to my soul. The message settled in deeply with the strong and passionate vocals of LeAndria and Zacardi as they spilled their hearts on the track. “It Could Be Worse” is definitely a hand clapping, foot stomping song that sends you in praise.

If one word can describe this album it would be “Awesome.” From the intro throughout the album, it is jam-packed with praise.  The guest artists give the album a range of flavors that will appeal to both R&B and Gospel lovers alike. The fact that other heavyweights like Nikki Ross and Kim Burrell lend their vocal prowess to the project is an added bonus. The beats and melodies get you in the mood to dance; I love the fact that you can jump up and move to his song and then go into worship praise. It has some hip-hop elements and an R&B flow, but the message is all Christ; as a young Christian, this is music I can relate to and grow deeper in Christ

If you’re looking for a breakthrough, this album will minister to your spirit and strengthen your praise. “Identity” is an album that will help to understand who we are in Christ and what we should strive to perfect; with understanding, we can now claim the blessings God has on our lives.
