After 20 years and seven chart topping albums, Ricky Dillard and New G releases their eighth offering entitled, “Keep Living“. Ricky Dillard is the choir director’s, choir director and with the recent emergence of praise & worship music, it is refreshing to know that there is someone out there still making good choir music!
The album starts with the classic New G sound in the song “God is Great” and does not miss a beat throughout the next 12 songs. The title track “Keep Living”, admonishes the listener to “Keep living through your troubles, through your pain, through your words cause after this is the victory”. Other stand out tracks are the jazzy “Destined for Greatness”, “I Am Saved”, “He Reigns Forever” and the uplifting “He Turned It”. “He Turned It” is not your typical New G song, but it is indeed one of the highlights of the entire album.
Unsurprisingly, Ricky Dillard and New G have done it again with the same “New G” sound, same manicured choir look and a different label, (Light Records). If you love choir music and want to keep it alive, you are going to love this project. Ricky Dillard has proved that he is not just a master showman, but also a man of substance that has given us another high energy, scripturally sound gospel album. “Keep Living” is a must have in your collection and Root Magazine’s first classic of 2011!
