LEON TIMBO’S R&B MASTERPIECE

WHAT LOVE’S ALL ABOUT

AVAILABLE FRIDAY, AUGUST 26th!

August 17, 2016 – Leon Timbo has been working towards this moment for years. While he has been a mainstay on the club circuit in the states and abroad, and has released some classic, limited edition tracks and albums, the soulful Jacksonville, FL bred singer/songwriter/musician is finally unleashing a full body of work. Timbo’s first national release, What Love’s All About, will be available Friday, August 26th from Riverphlo Entertainment/eOne Distribution. The album, produced by Luther “Mano” Hanes (Ledisi, Andrae Crouch, CeCe Winans), is available for pre-sale now.

The first single,  “You’re My Darling” is climbing the Urban AC charts and boasts a funky, dance-inducing mid-tempo vibe that serves to introduce Leon as an artist with staying power. Timbo says of the song’s theme: “It’s the day that you decide that you want to continue a relationship and see how far it can go,” Leon explains. “When you find someone to commit to, then define what you’re willing to put on the line. It also front loads the idea of how I want people to hear my album and of our relationship going forward.”

What Love’s All About is sonically diverse but rooted in pure soul music. The album also features the epic drums-driven 8-minute blast of futuristic rock-n-soul “For Your Love,” the modern nod to golden-era Motown of the title track and the Memphis-style R&B of “I Still Love You.” “Reach for Your Destiny” offers a sunny dose of world music inspiration while “What Took You So Long” is a techno pop ballad about a long-prayed-for love. The generous 14-track What Love’s All About shows the impressive depth and range of Timbo’s artistry.

Timbo says of this album and his overall approach to music: “Being on the road has taught me that people just want to know how to live or how to escape from living. Show me the best way to live or give me a fantasy away from it. I chose the former and it will always be my platform.”

“In a time where we have lost so many of the musical architects and legendary artists who have come before us, I believe Leon Timbo will help remind us why we love the music of the past the way we do. I like to call his artistry ‘Transparent Soul’”, says Hanes. “Leon is a unique artist. However, as a songwriter he is the definition of a storyteller. His ability to make simple phrases seem complex and complex phrases seem simple is reminiscent of some of music’s most prolific writers.”

One of Leon Timbo’s biggest supporters is the inimitable balladeer/actor and CEO of his own label imprint, Voltron,Tyrese, who catapulted Timbo’s career after hearing him sing at T.D. Jakes’ The Potter’s House. Tyrese says: “Leon Timbo has honestly become an extension of my confidence. He is the truth. I’ve seen Leon tear the house down over dinner, arenas and pretty much every church he’s ever been blessed to perform in. Here’s a man with a real gift. He sings, writes and moves with ALL HEART!!!! I’m always so proud. If you could be so lucky to buy this album or see him live you will be blessed.”

Timbo has amassed a legion of fans among fellow artists, and they sing his praises. One of them is the sublime Avery Sunshine, who says “with merely his voice and guitar Leon Timbo is able to deliver passionate songs that move and inspire the masses. He is one of the greats of our time.”
