Whitney Houston Dead at 48

The music world was at a standstill today when news traveled that singer, Whitney Houston was pronounced dead at the young age of 48.
Houston’s publicist confirmed the singer’s death to ABC News. The cause of death is not yet known.
Six police cars were spotted in front of the Beverly Hilton hotel today, where Houston was staying. TMZ reports that paramedics were called there this afternoon and found Houston unresponsive in her hotel room.
According to TMZ, paramedics’ attempts at CPR failed and Houston was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m. PT. TMZ reports that there were no signs of foul play.
Just this past Thursday there were pictures floating around the internet of Houston looking disheveled at a pre-Grammy party in Los Angeles. But that is not how we want to remember her. Whitney Houston was one of the best voices of our time if not the best voice of our time. After selling over 170 million albums, 6 Grammy Awards, 22 American Music Awards and countless Billboard Awards, Houston set the bar on what a Pop princess should be. Albums like The Bodyguard Soundtrack will forever be embedded in pop culture and just to think she only had six songs on the album!
The next few days will be sad and somber for the music industry and the media will generally focus on the craziness that Whitney Houston was associated with but let’s remember the Whitney we all grew to love, the Whitney whose voice defined a generation like Aretha before her. Let’s remember the Whitney who gave us the highest selling gospel album of all time- “The Preacher’s Wife soundtrack. Lastly, let us pray for her mother Cissy Houston, who never stopped praying for her daughter to get well and her daughter Bobbie Kristina, who watched the media tear down both of her parents in the media for 19 years to now witness her demise in such a tragic way.
Life is short and we really must live each day like it is our last. Whitney Houston, your music will live on forever. I Will always Love You!
