Bridgeport, Connecticut native and Verity recording artist Deon Kipping has been blessing people with his songwriting over the past few years, writing hit songs for J.J. Hairston and YP (Incredible God, Incredible Praise), Marvin Sapp (Praise Him In Advance), Byron Cage (I’ve Got a Reason) and many others. Now Kipping releases his first major label debut with the highly anticipated album “I Just Want to Hear You.” Last fall, Kipping had the privilege of being the opening act for Kirk Franklin’s “Fearless Tour” and his hit single “I Don’t Look Like” (What I’ve Been Through) became an immediate hit at radio and amongst gospel music fans across the country.

“I Just Want to Hear You” is the latest installment of new era gospel music that is taking the music world by storm and Deon Kipping is undoubtedly riding the wave. With majority of the 14- song project written by Deon Kipping himself, substance is the first word that comes to mind while listening, as all of the songs include lyrics of substance instead of focusing on catchy choruses like some of the music released today.

Songs like “Miracle”, “Prisoner of Christ” and “Never Cease” are more like proclamations, while “Heal Again”, “I Already Have”  and “You Are King” are high tempo songs with a message of inspiration and hope. “I Need Your Attention” featuring Anaysha Figueroa- Cooper is one of the most heartfelt and well written songs on the album….very transparent and raw. With lyrics that scream, “I’m pleading while I’m bleeding, people say they’re interceding”, it’s a song you just have to experience for yourself.

For all of you Deon Kipping and New Covenant fans, you already know how much of a gifted songwriter, singer and arranger Deon Kipping is, courtesy of his independent project, “Real Life. Real Worship.” But on his first major label debut, Deon has matured as a singer and a writer, deciding instead to keep some of the jewels he wrote for himself.
