Welcome to Root Magazine’s Fifth Edition (2nd Print Edition), which also commemorates our complete first year! We are so excited for the success of our previous issues featuring Donald Lawrence, Kim Burrell, The 50 Greatest Gospel Acts of All Time, Marvin Sapp and our present issue featuring “The Blueprint” himself, Kirk Franklin. This issue will go to you LIVE from the G.M.W.A. Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio and is sure to be the buzz of industry with feature stories on the President of said conference, Bishop Albert Jamison along with Commissioned alum, Michael Brooks, as he breaks his eight year silence about why he was omitted from the Commissioned reunion in 2002. In addition, we take a retrospective look at Church Denominations in a special feature entitled: The Death of Denominations; as well as our long overdue feature, “What About Us”, on Holy Hip- Hop artists, TWyse, Brother Hahz, Prayz1 and Block City, complete with interview and photo shoot in New York City’s famed Central Park.

There is so much more in store for you in this issue and we know you will enjoy reading it. This issue marks history of sorts as this will be our last issue that will feature gospel music exclusively. Moving forward, our next issue will take a new direction ,covering CCM (Christian Contemporary Music) as we attempt to bridge the gap between the two genres of music. If we could compare it to something, I guess it would be “The Stellars meets The Doves”. Whatever the case, we are very excited at what God is doing and whatever we do, we will do with honesty and integrity. There are so many people who love gospel music who don’t know who Chris Tomlin is and so many people who love CCM who don’t know who Hezekiah Walker is. Root Magazine will be the premier media outlet that will change that. Besides, it’s all God’s music!

This is Root Magazine’s first print edition and we are bringing it to you “LIVE” at the 25th Anniversary Stellar Awards post party. On this day, we also launched our 3rd issue via online, entitled “The 50 Greatest Gospel Acts of All Time” and it is sure to be a conversation piece. This special print edition will include a portion of the “50” as well as special features from past issues; such as an ode to the King of Pop: Michael Jackson. We’ve also included a rare look at the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, in a thought provoking article entitled: Obama vs. Jesus.

This issue is packed with intriguing information that will quench your literary palate and have you wanting more of Root Magazine. We won’t just be an online magazine for long….
