The bible states: “To every thing there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven”. Right now in Gospel music, this season belongs to Vashawn Mitchell. Mitchell’s 3rd CD, “Triumphant” is his EMI Gospel debut and is nothing short of excellent. The lead single, “Nobody Greater”, is already a big hit at radio and on Praise & Worship teams across the country. And if it is Praise & Worship you are looking for, it does not stop at the “Nobody Greater”. “You Reign” is a beautiful song that proclaims: “Lord You Reign, Reign Forever, Lord You Reign Forever More, The Angels Bow Down At The Thought Of You, In Adoration Of Your Greatness & True, The Earth Trembles & The Heavens Proclaim, Your Royalty, All Power is in Your Name”. This song is sure to be on every church’s list of Praise & Worship songs to usher in the presence of the Lord. The song “Chasing After You” was already a hit when Bishop Paul S. Morton recorded it two years ago but I must admit that Mitchell’s version is better, offering tighter vocals and musicianship. The drummer simply went crazy on this song! “Be Fruitful” and “Can’t Take My Joy Away” and the title track, “Triumphant”, round off the album well, while “His Blood Still Works” featuring powerhouse Lisa Page- Brooks, is definitely one of the CD’s hidden treasures.

Vashawn Mitchell is an artist and writer for this generation as he wrote 7 of the 11 songs on the album. This CD is a must have and definitely has cross-over appeal into the CCM market. As they say, 3 times a charm!
