Joshua Andrew is a songwriter who was born and raised in one of the most musical cities in the world, Philadelphia. Some of his musical influences include Ricky Dillard, Hezekiah Walker and Kurt Carr, with dreams and aspirations of one day working with R&B superstar, Tank. However, one of his biggest musical influences is unsung Philadelphia choir master, Steve Middleton; whom Joshua had the pleasure of singing with his choir in his formative years.
Joshua’s music combines contemporary sounds, with a gospel message and a nod to his Caribbean heritage. His debut single, The Devil Is Under Defeat, is a high energy track with that island flavor that he grew up on. The melodic tune was written to remind anyone who is going through a rough time, that the devil will be defeated and you will overcome, no matter what obstacles you might face.
Being reared in the church, Joshua Andrew has always had a love for gospel music. As a young man growing up, he sang with numerous gospel choirs, including the Steve Middleton’s Unity and Praise Choir.
He has collaborated with Brian Pugh, Music Director for Richard Smallwood, and Junius Bervine, Music Director for a variety of artists including multiple Grammy® winning artists, Common and Lauryn Hill.
Joshua Andrew states, “I want my musical body of work to reflect my love of God and my love of the people of God. I want them to be uplifted and encouraged always.”
The Devil is Under Defeat features powerful female vocalist, Sasha, and will be available on all digital outlets on Friday, March 11, 2022.
