Do you ever watch a show on television, see an artist, actor or actress and wonder to yourself, “I wonder how much he or she is worth?” After pondering for a few seconds, you can’t help but to go to Google on your phone and type in Quincy Jones net worth. Back in the 80’s and 90’s, you could only acquire this information by watching Robin Leach on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous (R.I.P. Robin). Today, the worldwide web and social media gives us way more access than we know what to do with, however, it gives us an up close and personal look at some of our favorite artists.

For those of you who know me, you know that I am an avid lover of Gospel music and the culture. The other day I was looking at a few videos on Youtube and I began looking up the net worth on a few mainstream artists. Upon doing my research, I began comparing the net worth of veteran artists like Ja Rule, KRS-One, Mary J. Blige and Brandy to that of our beloved Gospel artists and to my surprise they were comparable.

Gospel Music has long since been the underdog when it comes to the industry of music but let’s be clear, many Gospel artists are business savvy, smart and bankable! Here are the Top 25 richest Gospel artists:

1. Shirley Caesar- $16 Million

Shirley Caesar net worth: Shirley Caesar is an American gospel music singer-songwriter who has a net worth of $16 million dollars. Shirley Caesar was born in Durham, North Carolina, and began singing gospel music when she was a child. She showed immense talent from the beginning, and recorded her first tracks when she was only eleven. At age 18, she began performing with the immensely popular gospel group, The Caravans. She toured around the world and recorded with the group for the next eight years. She then left the group to pursue a solo career. Along the way, she also graduated from Shaw University with a degree in Business Administration. She also attended the Divinity School at Duke University. Over the course of her career, she has released 20 solo albums, and has won seven Dove Awards and two Black Gospel Awards. In addition to her gospel singing work, she is also one of the pastors of Mount Calvary Word of Faith Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Burrell performed her first vocal solo with a church choir when she was only one year old. The daughter of a pastor and an evangelist singer, her professional career began with Rev. James Cleveland’s Gospel Music Workshop Choir, Trinity Temple Full Gospel Mass Choir of Dallas and the Inspirational Sounds Mass Choir of Houston.
