VERITY GOSPEL MUSIC GROUP TOPS BILLBOARD’S YEAR-END CHARTS

Verity Released 7 of Billboard’s Top 25 Gospel Albums of the Year

New York, NY – December 19, 2012 –  Billboard’s year end music charts have been published and, for the fifth consecutive year, Verity Gospel Music Group is the Top Gospel Album and Top Gospel SongsImprint of the year; and RCA is the top Gospel Album and Top Gospel Songs Label of the year.

Billboard lists seven of Verity’s releases among its Top-25 Gospel Albums of 2012 – with WOW GOSPEL 2012 being the #1 Gospel Album of the Year.  Billboard also named the year’s Top-10 Gospel artists, and  four Verity artists are on that list:  Marvin Sapp (#2); Fred Hammond (#3); Jason Nelson (#4), and Kirk Franklin (#8).  Even though Kirk Franklin’s latest CD – HELLO FEAR – was released in 2011, its steady sales landed the album and Franklin on this year’s charts.

Verity also secured seven of Billboard’s Top-25 Gospel Songs – including Marvin Sapp’s “My Testimony;” Jason Nelson’s “Shifting The Atmosphere;” Fred Hammond’s “I Feel Good;” and Kirk Franklin’s “A God Like You.”

In other year-end news, iTunes has published its list of the Best Gospel Albums of 2012, and six of those albums were released by Verity:  WOW 2012V4…The Other Side (J Moss); God, Love & Romance (Fred Hammond); I Just Want To Hear You (Deon Kipping); Shifting The Atmosphere (Jason Nelson); Memoirs of a Worshipper (Byron Cage).

Verity Gospel Music Group’s 2013 releases will include WOW Gospel 2013 and new music from Kurt Carr, William Murphy, Fred Hammond and Hezekiah Walker.

Verity artists recently received 25 Stellar Award nominations; four Grammy Award nominations and two NAACP Image Award nominations.
