The Baptist Worship Center was the backdrop for Vashawn Mitchell’s Created4This album release. The event, which was sponsored by Denny’s, not only celebrated the release of one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year, but also the ministry of some of gospel music’s best kept secrets.

Praise 103.9’s Lonnie Hunter is always a great host and he did not disappoint, entertaining and embracing the crowd of over 1,000 like only he can. The Baptist Worship Center Choir, Thomas TC Clay, Livre and Marc Britt and Restored all ushered in the presence of God in their own way and the crowd was literally on their feet for the entire evening. Even the man of the hour, Vashawn Mitchell, enjoyed each and every artist from a front row seat in the audience; proving that artist need to be ministered to as well.

A pleasant surprise of the night came when Anthony Brown and Group TherAPy hit the stage and did their rendition of Richard Smallwood’s Total Praise as well as their new single, “Testimony”, which is currently a chart topper at radio. Ironically, Vashawn Mitchell partnered with Tyscot Records (his former label) to bring Anthony Brown and Group TherAPy’s project to fruition; which at Root press time was the #3 gospel album in the country. Before Vashawn hit the stage, Brown opened up about the first time he attended the Baptist Worship Center and received a word from the beautiful Bishop Millicent Hunter that God is going to bless him with his songwriting, which resulted in the song he sang to Maurette in the car on the way there entitled “It Aint Over.”

It was now time for the man of the hour, Vashawn Mitchell and he wasted no time blessing the crowd with songs from his latest offering like, “Psalms 150”, “Greatest Man” and his current single “Turning Around For Me.” He even did a medley of songs that only Day #1 VMan fans know like “My Worship Is For Real” and “Trouble Don’t Last .” The crowd was beside themselves in worship and it was evident that Vashawn Mitchell is one of the most anointed gospel stars of modern era. Of course the night would not be complete without Vashawn doing his smash hit, “Nobody Greater” and the crowd definitely obliged.
