(Nashville, TN) – Artists and label executives from both the Gospel and Contemporary Christian Music industries flooded to Music City yesterday for the 46th Annual Dove Awards presented by the Gospel Music Association.
One of the premier events marrying both genres, the all day affair included events hosted by ASCAP, an online streaming pre-telecast, and the evening’s award show. By the end of the night, Motown Gospel walked away with three wins in the categories of Gospel Artist Of the Year (Tasha Cobbs),Traditional Gospel Album Of The Year (Brian Courtney Wilson), andContemporary Gospel/Urban Album of the Year (Smokie Norful). Label newcomer, Janice Gaines, was on the scene as a presenter, as well as Grammy Award Winners Tasha Cobbs and Pastor Charles Jenkins.
One of the night’s takeaways included a breathtaking performance by soulful tenor, Brian Courtney Wilson. During his performance of the chart topping single “Worth Fighting For”, Wilson incorporated his son Joshua Wilson and an all male chorus to reinforce the message of unity and solidarity.
Social media was ablaze with singers taking to Periscope and Instagram to show their gratitude. It was a night to remember.
