About In the Cut
“In The Cut” centers on Jay Weaver (DORIEN WILSON, “The Parkers”), and Kenny Clark (KEN LAWSON, “TheParkers”). Jay owns several businesses in a strip mall in San Diego, California.   He spends most of his time working in his barbershop, Jay’s Chop Shop. He also co--owns a beauty salon a few doors away: Nadine’s, named for his ex--wife (JACKÉE HARRY, “Sister, Sister”).  The show kicks off when thirty--one year old Kenny Clark shows up out of nowhere claiming to be Jay’s illegitimate son from a short--lived fling between Jay and Kenny’s mother, Beverly Clark. Kenny, who swears he only showed up to meet his biological father, is dealing with his own issues when we meet him. Just as he convinces Jay that he is his father and the two begin to get acquainted with each other, Kenny is hit with divorce papers from his wife. Jay reluctantly invites Kenny to move in with him until he can get back on his feet.  Kenny ultimately ends up working as an apprentice barber at Jay’s Chop Shop, where a lot of the action takes place. Jay runs the shop, and his long--time sidekick Clevon “Smitty” Smith (JOHN MARSHALL JONES, “The Smart Guy”) adds to the comedy and occasional drama that come into their lives.
