(Aug. 17, 2015) DALLAS – Be among the first in the nation to see WOODLAWN, an exhilarating high school football story about spiritual revival and reconciliation that offers hope for overcoming the racial crises facing America today. A premiere screening will be held Thursday, Aug. 20 at Bishop T.D. Jakes’ Megafest Film Festival in Dallas.
On hand for the event will be Sherri Shepherd (THE VIEW), one of the film’s stars, along with Director Jon Erwin and others associated with the production and Pure Flix, the movie’s distributor.
The film is the remarkable true story about how love and unity overcame racism and hate in early 1970s Alabama. It stars Academy Award winner Jon Voight, Sean Astin, Nic Bishop and newcomer Caleb Castille and features some of the most breathtaking football sequences captured on film.
New Orleans Saints tight end Benjamin Watson calls WOODLAWN a “dynamic movie about the power of the Gospel to bridge any racial or cultural divide and the influence of sports to lead positive social change.” It points to the one hope, one truth and one faith that can heal our nation.
