For Immediate Release:
Newark, NJ (March 27, 2014) — Multiple Grammy®, Stellar award and Soul Train music award winning gospel recording artist Tye Tribbett has been tapped to perform at the 35th annual UNCF: An Evening of Stars on April 6th in Atlanta, GA.
Sharing billing with fellow Grammy® winners The Isley Brothers, Jill Scott, and more, Tribbett is set to bring his thrilling brand of energetic praise to the historic United Negro College Fund-hosted telecast. Shining as the night’s sole gospel act, the “If He Did It Before…Same God” performer continues to use his platform to permeate the boundaries of popular music. Set for taping from the Atlanta Civic Center on April 6th, those unable to attend the live event can see Tye’s performance when it airs nationally on BET, Sunday, April 13th at 10p/9c.
UNCF’s An Evening of Stars airing won’t be the only place viewers can catch Tye Tribbett on BET, however. Just one week prior to the show’s airing, the Motown Gospel artist will be seen lending a show-stopping performance at the 14th annual BET Celebration of Gospel on April 6th at 8/7 c.
The announcements come as evidence of Tribbett’s determination to make 2014 a “roofless” year – that is, a year with endless possibilities. Kicking off the year with two Grammy® wins for Best Gospel Song (“If He Did It Before…Same God”) and Best Gospel Album (GREATER THAN), preceded by a Male Vocalist of the Year win at the 2014 Stellar Awards (his fifth overall), the string of honors accompany the continued success of his latest album.
Debuting at #9 on Billboard 200 and #1 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart (where it remained for 4 consecutive weeks), GREATER THAN maintains its hold on the Billboard Gospel Albums Charts’ top 10 by moving up to #8 this week – 32 weeks after its debut.
