Home Featured Content Did Isaac Carree raise the bar on BET’s Celebration of Gospel?

The answer to the question above is ABSOLUTELY! I’m pretty sure that almost everyone who is reading this post, watched COG last night and I must say that it was a great show. However, the performance of the night hands down went to COG first timer, Isaac Carree AKA Ike Nice! Complete with dancers, background singers and Mr. Fonzworth Bentley himself, Isaac mesmerized the crowd with his current #1 smash “In The Middle”. The dance steps were reminiscent of old school swing dancing and 90’s Kid n Play Hip Hop all rolled into one and had everyone on their feet. You don’t normally see moves like that in gospel but I must say it was a breath of fresh air!

Now if you are one of the deep saints, there was more than enough hand clapping, foot stomping and deeply rooted gospel music for you too. Other notable performances came from Fred Hammond, Ricky Dillard and New G along with Johnny Gill, James Fortune, Zacardi Cortez, Le’Andria Johnson, Faith Evans and Jessica Reedy, Marvin Sapp, A special tribute to the late Whitney Houston done by Kelly Price, A tribute to Mahalia Jackson done by Yolanda Adams, Amber Riley, Pastor Shirley Caesar and Jennifer Holliday; which was the second best performance in my opinion and another COG first timer, Maurette Brown Clark.

Check out Isaac below in the Feb/March issue of Root!
