Last night’s Sunday’s Best Finale was definitely one for the books with jaw dropping performances from some of today’s greatest gospel stars. The King’s Men opened the show with a medley of their songs and prepared the world for what’s to be expected on their upcoming tour coming this fall. Other performances from the incomparable Pastor Marvin L. Winans, Kurt Carr, Tye Tribbett, Ledisi, Yolanda Adams and Kim Burrell.

Your new Sunday Best- Joshua Rodgers

However, the night belonged to Joshua Rodgers, who became not only the youngest Sunday Best Winner but also the only male winner in the five year history of the show. All season long Joshua electrified fans with his dynamic range, song selection and anointing. Whether he was singing Vanessa Bell’s “Peace Be Still” or Mary Mary’s “God In Me”, he always made the song his own and nailed it every time. Case in point, his version of Bishop Paul Morton’s “I’m Still Standing” ….wow!  From the very beginning of the show we knew that Joshua was going to be the one to beat and the young man from Greenleyville, South Carolina proved America right. He even received a key to the city of Greenleyville which has an astounding population of 375!

Although Alexis Speight was the runner-up, the young lady who Kirk Franklin crowned “Baby Girl” is definitely a force to be reckoned with as well.

We wish both artists nothing but success as they embark on a new chapter in their life in the gospel music industry.
