This evening, opening ceremonies for the 5th annual Always Sisters Forever Brothers (ASFB) conference will be held at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. Conference founder and multi-award winning gospel artist, Cece Winans, will host this year’s event, welcoming teen boys and girls from all across the country.

With a goal to “educate, motivate and re-direct the life choices of this generation,” the conference has helped equip more than 15,000 teens from ages 13 to 26 with knowledge to face the challenges that plague their communities, including AIDS, teen pregnancy, bullying, and drugs.

Winans told Essence that she was inspired to create the conference under her non-profit organization Sharing the Vision because, “When I started recording at 15 years old with my brother BeBe, we started to get letters. As they kept coming, I wanted to create a platform to answer questions, from what kind of makeup I wore to real questions like, ‘Can you help me, I’m contemplating suicide?’ It was my time to pour everything I’d learned in my upbringing into somebody else. People say, kids’ attention spans are short, and that’s true. But when you put people in front of them that are interesting, they really do stay focused.”

This year’s conference attendees will hear from a number of featured guests that will inspire and encourage them to face any challenge that comes their way. The roster includes gospel rap artist, LaCrae, singer/songwriter/producer, Canton Jones, Senior Pastor of New Light Christian Center Church, Dr. I.V. Hillard, TV court show Judge, Greg Mathis, actor, David Mann and his wife actress, Tamela Mann, BET Music Matters gospel artist, Mali Music, gospel groundbreaking duo, Mary Mary, the great gospel producer/vocalist, Fred Hammond and others!

After two days of informational sessions, the conference will close Saturday night with an all-star concert hosted by David Mann that will feature a number of the artists listed above, recording artist, Preashea Hillard and a few other surprise performances!
